Who provides this service

Caregiver Compass is operated by Oikos Consulting & Management Inc., a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada. In these terms, "we", "us", and "our" mean Oikos Consulting & Management Inc..

Caregiver Compass and Joel AI

Joel AI is the proprietary AI technology and platform brand developed by Oikos Consulting & Management Inc.. Joel AI powers Caregiver Compass, including Alma, the guided companion inside the app. Joel AI is a brand and technology platform, not a separate company, and it is not a separate legal entity. Your agreement is with Oikos Consulting & Management Inc..

Permitted use

Caregiver Compass is provided to support family caregivers. Please use it for your own caregiving needs and those of the people you care for.

Your responsibilities

• Keep your account credentials confidential.
• Provide accurate information when you use the service.
• Respect the privacy of the people you care for and other members of your care circle.

Account security

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. If you notice anything unusual, please contact us right away.

Acceptable conduct

• Do not attempt to disrupt the service or misuse it.
• Do not upload content that infringes the rights of others.
• Do not use the service for unlawful purposes.

Service limitations

Caregiver Compass provides education, organization, and emotional support. It is not a medical, legal, or emergency service. See our Safety and Scope page for details.

Who may use Caregiver Compass

Caregiver Compass is for adults. Accounts are for adult family caregivers, and everything in the app — including material about children and grandchildren in a caregiving family — is written for an adult to read and decide how to use. Caregiver Compass is not a service for children, and it is not directed to children. Please do not create an account for a minor or invite a minor into a Care Circle.

Learning and education

Learning pathways in Caregiver Compass are ordered reading built from our reviewed libraries. There are no tests, quizzes, scores, grades, badges, certificates, credits, or competency assessments, and completing a pathway does not create a professional, clinical, or caregiving qualification of any kind. The only thing we keep is where you stopped, so you can resume.

Care Circle, support, and community features

Care Circle and support features let you invite people you already know, share what you need, and keep each other informed. Caregiver Compass does not contact people on your behalf other than sending the invitation or notification you ask us to send, and it does not assign tasks to anyone, book services, arrange respite or transportation, screen or vet people, or match you with caregivers, volunteers, or providers. Whether someone responds, and what they do, is between you and them.

Resource and regional information

Resource records describe programs operated by governments and other organizations, and each links to that organization's own information. Programs change. Caregiver Compass does not decide eligibility, control availability, set cost, or promise any outcome, and we cannot promise that a program listed here is still offered, still free, or open to you. Always confirm the current details with the organization itself before relying on them.

Intellectual property

All Caregiver Compass software, Alma, Joel AI technology, educational content, course materials, graphics, designs, documentation, and related intellectual property are owned by Oikos Consulting & Management Inc., unless otherwise identified. Please do not copy or redistribute them without permission. Information you enter about yourself and the people you care for remains yours.

Service availability and warranty

We work to keep Caregiver Compass accurate, available, and helpful, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suited to every situation. Educational content and AI-generated responses are general in nature and may not fit your circumstances. Except where the law does not allow it to be excluded, Caregiver Compass is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. Nothing in this section removes rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Oikos Consulting & Management Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of Caregiver Compass, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to resupplying the service. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law. Because Caregiver Compass is not a medical, legal, or emergency service, please continue to rely on qualified professionals and emergency services for those needs — see Safety and Scope.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Caregiver Compass changes. When we do, we will update the version and effective date at the top of this page, and we will tell you about meaningful changes through the app or by email. If you continue using Caregiver Compass after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using the service at any time.

Suspension or termination

We may suspend or end access to protect the service or its members. You may stop using Caregiver Compass at any time.

Changes to the service

Because we are actively improving Caregiver Compass, features may change. We will do our best to communicate meaningful changes.
